Publication An Empirical Research on the Relationship between ACCA Strategic Business Leader (SBL) Grade, English Proficiency, Gender and Work Experience(CamEd Business School, May 30, 2020) Parmindar SinghThis research wanted to find whether is there any empirical relationship between SBL grade with regards to English proficiency, gender and work experience. A Chi-Square analysis was conducted for SBL students who sat for the December 2018 exam. A self -developed questionnaire made up of nominal data was distributed through e-mail and 20 responses were obtained. This analysis shows no relationship between SBL grade to English proficiency, gender and work experience. This research also revealed that attending classes to understand the theoretical underpinning as well as improving exam techniques and time management are key in passing SBL. This research also recommended that students be encouraged to attend classes and not through self-learning. Incentivizing students to attend class is also explained in this research. Countries and companies alike have real-ized that corporate governance has become center stage. The prominent driver of change to cor-porate governance codes has been due to corporate collapse (United Nations, cited, 1999, cited in Davies, 2008, p. 533). In addition, the growing number of institutional ownership and the internation-alization of capital markets (Elsayed, 2007) have made corporate governance to become very criti-cal. Many countries have adopted corporate governance practices and while there are similarities in their approaches, there are also differences. This article provides a conceptual analysis of their simi-larities and differences. This article serves to enlighten undergraduate students studying corporate governance, students of ACCA studying the Strategic Business Leader subject, post-graduate stu-dents and practitioners on the foundations of convergence and divergence of corporate governance. The next section of this article will provide the reasons why there are similarities in countries’ corpo-rate governance. This is followed by reasons, that despite some similarities, there are also factors that results in differences in corporate governance. The last section wraps up with a conclusion of the article.Publication Corporate Psychopath – Meaning, Signs, Effects and Amelioration Approaches(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2020) Parmindar SinghThere have been musings on why organizational performance is declining, or why employees, especially key employees are leaving. On a wider note, there can also be preponderances on why head of states are managing their countries poorly. One of the multiple reasons can be the presence of a “psychopath” as the head of an organization or even as a head of state. In the context of an organization, this individual can be called as, among other terms, an industrial psychopath, executive psychopath, organizational psychopath or a corporate psychopath (Boddy, 2014, p. 107). Corporate psychopath, as the term used here in the context of organizations warrant some discussion as organizational success or otherwise is partly or wholly contingent on the leadership or absence of it in an organization. If a chief executive or directors happened to be corporate psychopaths, then the organization’s performance will head southwards and this will cause agency conflict with the organization’s stakeholders and shareholders in particular. Therefore it is important to be aware of the presence of a corporate psychopath in the midst of a board of directors or taken in a wider context, in the presence of a cabinet of ministers running a country.Publication Corporate Social Responsibility: A Conceptual Analysis(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2016) Parmindar SinghThe purpose of this article is to explain and create enlightenment on corporate social responsibility and creating shared value concepts.
