Publication Corporate Governance Convergence and Divergence among Countries and Companies: A Conceptual Analysis(CamEd Business School, June 30, 2019) Parmindar SinghThe Cadbury Committee (1992, cited in Mintz, 2005, p. 584) defines corporate governance as the system by which companies are directed and controlled. Countries and companies alike have real-ized that corporate governance has become center stage. The prominent driver of change to cor-porate governance codes has been due to corporate collapse (United Nations, cited, 1999, cited in Davies, 2008, p. 533). In addition, the growing number of institutional ownership and the internation-alization of capital markets (Elsayed, 2007) have made corporate governance to become very criti-cal. Many countries have adopted corporate governance practices and while there are similarities in their approaches, there are also differences. This article provides a conceptual analysis of their simi-larities and differences. This article serves to enlighten undergraduate students studying corporate governance, students of ACCA studying the Strategic Business Leader subject, post-graduate stu-dents and practitioners on the foundations of convergence and divergence of corporate governance. The next section of this article will provide the reasons why there are similarities in countries’ corpo-rate governance. This is followed by reasons, that despite some similarities, there are also factors that results in differences in corporate governance. The last section wraps up with a conclusion of the article.Publication Beyond the numbers: The Importance of the Independent Non-Executive Directors in the Corporate Governance(CamEd Business School, June 30, 2019) Varabott HoThis paper is based on data and information gathered directly through interviews and information provided by and at ABC group (Real name is not disclosed for confidentiality). Our communication patterns, including formal and informal language used as we engage and address customers, clients, bosses and co-workers, are all predicated on our culture. Broadly, in today’s global business, where technology helps us to collaborate, the need for Virtual Cross Cultural Teams is increasing. VCCT is simply an expression that describes the work done by several people from a particular organization, but from different cultural orientations in different places and time zones using the available technological mediums to pursue effective collaboration. Today, we need to develop a completely new skill set to lead virtual cross-cultural teams to high performance. It will involve understanding the cultural dimensions so that we can generate and formally represent an evolving common culture with regards to the specific problem face. Hence, being able to lead a VCC team is even more important for today and future organization’s projects. This paper presents a clear understanding of this new phenomenon in global business, the role of culture and why it matters, the benefits and challenges of CCV teams, and finally outlines some key application points for leading a CCV team well. The degree of dollarization was high as measure by DR4 indicator bounded in the range between 86 percent and 91 percent from 2010 to 2017. But as compare to GDP, the amount of US Dollar in circulation was rather low aim to the increase in foreign currency deposits. The result of survey from 530 respondents indicated that most of the people’s income earned in US Dollar and which turned into the purchase of goods and services in the markets were mainly conducted in US Dollar. Not many people known about the present of the South East Asia Central Bank (SEACEN), but surprising result had revealed that 72.64 percent of the respondents chose ASEAN currency, while 27.36 percent chose US Dollar. It will seek to explain why some fragments of the French legacy continue to influence Cambodia and why some have faded or disappeared. It begins with recent cases on contract suspensions triggered by the so-called economic hardship. Then it discusses subordination issue. Drawing on jurisprudential implications from suspension and subordination cases, and if comparative law can be of any guide, I conclude that Cambodia labor law will keep on expanding through interpretations. The VIA-IS 120 was used to measure strength profiles. Common reported character strengths in the total population are: Honesty, Kindness, Fairness, Teamwork & Leadership, which are different from common reported characer strengths in the total South East Asian population. Furthermore only the strength Humility shows a significant difference between both years, with higher reports in year 1. Interventions can be targeted on growing Hope and Gratitude and can be implemented in existing courses giving at CamEd. The findings show a need for further research on character strengths in Cambodian students, using a bigger population ranging from different educational providers in order to develop tailor made interventions which improve mental well-being and academic achievement in Cambodian students.
