Publication Teaching Hope : A Study to the Effect of a Positive Psychology Based Intervention on Cambodian Students’ Hope(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2020) Adriaan CornetThis study aims to analyze the effect of a positive psychology based intervention on the state of Hope in 20 CamEd students. The intervention was focused on analyzing character strengths through the VIA-IS 120, practicing gratitude and techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy to create positive thinking and positive self-talk. The ADHS was used to measure participants state of Hope prior and after the intervention. Results show no significant difference in experienced Hope after the intervention. Different explanations are discussed to why this intervention was unsuccessful in changing experienced hope. The collected data was also used to compare trait Hope, as measured with the VIA-IS Hope scale, with state Hope. A positive correlation was found which suggests both constructs behave in similar ways as argued in Snyder’s (1996) Hope theory. These findings show a need to further develop interventions which are targeted on hope to improve well-being and academic achievement in CamEd students. This industry has grown almost by 20% in annual average for 5 years, compared to nearly no growth for the fossil fuel related industry. In the meantime in Cambodia, the changes of consumers’ electricity patterns and the growth of supply is but the blackout remains frequent in the dry season, and the tariff remains also high compared to neighboring countries. An explanation to this situation could be found in the lack of the renewable energy potential and its possible integration into the current power system. Definitely, diversification in electricity generation can in the long term reduce the costs and positively impacts the consumers’ electricity prices. As fossil energy has limit, reducing rapidly the energy costs is becoming a major priority for our utilities. Constraints on new search of supply sources, increasing regulations, technologies, growing populations, and climate change all combined will require us to design a new future where higher demands will proportionally match higher energy inputs. The purpose of this paper is to also understand the risks in implementing renewable energy technologies in Cambodia. This research outlines the cost and benefits, but also the financial risk of renewable energy with a focus on solar, wind, hydro, in Cambodia.Publication Factors Affecting Students’ Academic Performance(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2020) Juliet Cadungog-UyThis study determines the factors affecting students’ academic performance. It covers 190 student respondents. Results show that class attendance and academic performance of female students are slightly better than males. Students who graduated high school from public school are performing better in class. Students who enrolled in the Accounting program because of their parents’ decision have lower class attendance, mid-term and computer based exam (CBE) scores compared to students who choose accountancy course on their own. Students taking two subjects only have higher class attendance, mid-term and CBE scores. Students who live in Phnom Penh have higher class attendance, mean mid-term and CBE scores compared to those coming from the provinces. Majority watched Youtube, use Facebook and Internet surfing however non-users have higher average mid-term and CBE scores and class attendance. Students who combined studying in groups and studying alone got the highest average mid-term and CBE scores. Almost half of the students prefer to study at home but those with higher class attendance are likely to have higher mid-term score regardless of the place they prefer to study. Those who spend 20 hours or more weekly in the library and those who study more than 15 hours before long exams have obtained the highest average mid-term and CBE scores. Students studying one week before the exam have higher scores than those who study one month before. Students with difficulty in reading English have higher risk of failing the exam. Poor reading skills have strong gravity pull on the scores despite student’s long study hours. On a wider note, there can also be preponderances on why head of states are managing their countries poorly. One of the multiple reasons can be the presence of a “psychopath” as the head of an organization or even as a head of state. In the context of an organization, this individual can be called as, among other terms, an industrial psychopath, executive psychopath, organizational psychopath or a corporate psychopath (Boddy, 2014, p. 107). Corporate psychopath, as the term used here in the context of organizations warrant some discussion as organizational success or otherwise is partly or wholly contingent on the leadership or absence of it in an organization. If a chief executive or directors happened to be corporate psychopaths, then the organization’s performance will head southwards and this will cause agency conflict with the organization’s stakeholders and shareholders in particular. Therefore it is important to be aware of the presence of a corporate psychopath in the midst of a board of directors or taken in a wider context, in the presence of a cabinet of ministers running a country.Publication Today’s Digital Classrooms: The Impact of Technology on Students’ Studying in CamEd Business School(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2020) Ediri Okoloba AndersonAs technology becomes increasingly common in every aspect of our lives today, from the way we communicate with people, collaborate with them, the way we entertain ourselves and to the way we do research, it is inevitable that technology should also be incorporated in our studies. This research paper focuses on the impact of technology (classroom management tools, laptops and mobile devices, WI-FI in the classroom, Google apps, and E-books etc.) in the classroom as perceived by both students and lecturers. The research was mostly carried out through surveys, one for lecturers and another for students, and the findings were analyzed and compiled. Overall, students felt favorably towards the use of technology in the class. They found collaboration tools, and Google classroom beneficial to their learning experience. It is concluded that students would like lecturers to provide more online practices and provide links and other references that support the learning that takes place in the classroom, but students claimed E-books were the least popular aspect of technology in the classroom; agreeing with some other results from similar studies. And, several students requested print copies of reference textbooks be made available alongside the E-books. It is well-known from classical trade theory, which is at least based on the work of Ricardo and Heckscher-Ohlin, that the abolition of all kind of trade barriers and all reductions of transaction costs increases the efficiency of all involved trading countries and the overall welfare in all concerned countries. In so far, free trade is in general a first best solution. According to gravity model of trade, China is a big partner of Cambodia in term of population and GDP. China has total population of 1,420 million habitants, where the Chinese language is use the most in the world. China also has experience of economic growth of 7.5% over last ten years. In 2017, China has the total GDP of $25 trillion (at PPP) which the largest GDP in the world (at current price is $14 trillion, the second largest).Publication Constitution: A Glance at Fundamental Concepts(CamEd Business School, December 30, 2020) Virak PrumThis article presents fundamental concepts related to the constitution, beginning with the assertion that the highest law of the land functions as the juridical statute of the state.
